Boxed In is a short play I wrote in the Fall of 2021 for my Playwriting Workshop taught by Leonard Berkman.
This class was fundamental to me as a writer and launched my desire to work in Comedy writing. This playwriting class was somewhat unorthodox, as instead of working on one long-form piece throughout the semester, we were asked to bring in fresh, short-form content each week. This class enabled me to be spontaneous and experimental with my work, focusing primarily on how sticky situations bring out the worst in complex personalities. Boxed In, a story in which a DoorDash driver and a Marketing Executive get trapped in an elevator together, is just one of many scripts I penned that Fall semester. Boxed In was performed by Isabelle Sanatdar Stevens and Jillian Lehosky at the 2022 New Play Reading Series at Smith College and can be viewed here.
